Dr. Kuldip S. Kular -

Dr. Kuldip Singh Kular was elected in 2003 and re-elected in 2007. He has served as Parliamentary Assistant to various ministers, including Citizenship and Immigration, Democratic Renewal and Health and Long-Term Care. Dr. Kular recently served on the Standing Committee on Social Policy, as well as the Cabinet Committee for Community Affairs Policy. In July 2005, Dr. Kular was appointed to the multi-party Select Committee on Electoral Reform.

Dr. Kular immigrated to Canada from the Province of Punjab, India, in 1974. He obtained his medical degree from Guru Nanak Dev University. After arriving in Canada, he completed two years of residency training in paediatrics at the IWK Hospital for Sick Children at Dalhousie University. Dr. Kular worked in the Canadian Armed Forces Hospital in Halifax before moving to Campbellton, New Brunswick, where he spent eight years in family practice until his move to Brampton in 1986. For the past 20 years, he has operated a successful family and sports medicine clinic in Brampton.

Dr. Kular has volunteered with the United Way and William Osler Foundation and donated medical services at community sports events and led seminars for new Canadians. He has received certificates of outstanding community service from the Government of Ontario, the Governor General of Canada and various community organizations. He has been a long-standing member of the Canadian Medical Association and the Ontario Medical Association, as well as a founding member of the Northern Indian Medical and Dental Association of Canada.

Dr. Kular and his wife, Jessie, have raised their four children in Brampton. He is an avid jogger and enjoys skiing, gardening and travelling.
