I know these are challenging times for the auto sector but we’ve got a solid plan – one that builds on the skills of our people.

I’m here at the Toyota Training Centre in Cambridge.

Our government, on behalf of the people of Ontario, was pleased to contribute $21 million worth in construction of this magnificent facility.

Toyota’s training some 6000 people here, including the 2000 new employees who will be working at the new plant just up the road in Woodstock Ontario.

I think everyone knows just how very, very, competitive the auto sector is.

And I can tell you what are single greatest advantage is — I’ve been speaking with some of the men and women here just a few moments ago — it’s our people.

One specific example:

The only place that Toyota builds its high-end luxury model the Lexus outside of Japan is right here in Ontario.

That’s a real tribute to the quality of the workmanship that comes from the men and women who are devoting themselves to building the best products in the world in the auto sector right here in Ontario.

So then I know that these are difficult and challenging times for the auto sector.

But we’ve got a strong plan.

It’s the right plan.

And it’s built on our single greatest strength here in Ontario, it’s always been, our people.
